Featured Wedgwood or WedgNOT Wash Bowl

This is Mercury carrying Pandora to earth. Was going to add a cameo example & found I had this in my Pandora file, probably from an eBay listing, seller may or may not have been correct, but I have it labeled as Roseville 'Olympic'.

Looks like you've also got Athena bestowing something on her & Hermes presenting Pandora to Epimetheus. The story is told by Hesiod.

 

Sorry to have to tell you this but that is not a pitcher. That piece would be called a ye olde chamber pot.

That is how an auctioneer I know describes them every time they show up in his auction house.

They usually have a matching lid.

 

Wow! So it was bought as part of a larger set possibly.

I'm unsure whether pieces were sold singly or exclusively as sets. There is a Victorian advertisement for a complete set easily findable on google.

Your pair is wonderful. I'd love to find the rest one day, its fun being able to go through the flaxman transfers too!
