Found this vase the other day, its 6" high (15cm) by 4 1/4" wide (11cm). from my internet searching it may be Japanese based on :
-large open spaces with no cloisons.
    - copper and silver metal cloisons on border design and birds respectively.
    - red/black cloisons on the top/bottom borders and sea spray bubbles are approx 1.5mm diameter and not always closed rings.
    - red crested cranes theme with waves looks japanese to me.
    - the top and bottom border decoration may indicate mid meiji period from what I learned?
    - bottom clearly has copper ring base which has been gilded but worn off, top even more so.

I would appreciate any help in identifying approx date and likely maker/artist/company as unfortunately there is no mark? Did they only sign higher quality pieces?
Is this light yellow a common colour in cloisonne and does the pin prick defects in the background and design indicate poor quality or normal as you only see them up close?
Is the internal and base blue glaze normal for these pieces?
Apologies for all the questions but keen to learn, I have checked the idcloisonne website but can't find anything similar as yet
    regards

Unfortunately without marks there is virtually nil chance of determining the maker.

No both low and high quality pieces are signed and unsigned.

Yellow isn't the most common colour, but does crop up regularly. Tiny air bubbles are common, but generally not found on higher end pieces.

Yes, although black and green are perhaps more common on Japanese items
