    Hello Everyone.

I just purchased a house and it came with one big chandelier and two matching sconces. I am knew to all this and do not have much knowledge in this. I was hoping to see if anyone was familiar with this chandelier and sconces, or can point me in the right direction on where I can find more info. Thank you in advance.

With the gold plastic wiring, likely 70s or later. Much of this type of thing was originally made in Italy but suspect newer ones are from Asia.

Hi and WELCOME to Antiquers, @NewbietoAntiques!! Sorry I can't help....I was the one, when growing up, who got stuck doing the cleaning and dusting of a couple when they needed it, so am not really fond of them!!:muted::muted: Others should be able to help!!

Lol thanks Aquitaine. I had the same thought when I saw these lights. I was like cleaning them should be fun. I just want to make sure that these are not antiques or expensive lights, and I need to be more careful storing them until I figure out what do with them. Thanks Verybrad, I know the previous owners are Italian so would not be surprised if its from Italy.

    Hi,
A lot of them were imported from Spain especially in the 1970s/80s.

Okay cool so it's from the 70s or 80s, which lets me know its not an antique which is super helpful. Is there places on the Chandelier that i can look to see if there is any markings by the company? I just want to know if this chandelier is expensive or just your everyday buy from big store. I am one of those people that do not like to just throw stuff out if I can re-purpose it, but before i try to do any thing to the chandelier. I want to make sure i am not one of those people who is ruining something that has value as is to someone else. Also thank you guys for all your help it is super appreciated.

    Hi,
Most of them are just jobbed from different sources. If it is a famous name it should be marked somewhere. When I was living in NYC I would go to the lighting district. If I was looking for a brass chandelier I would look in the stores that specialize in the glass ones. If I was looking for a glass one I would look in the brass stores. I would find brass one for 60% less or more in the glass shops. The same for the glass ones in the metal shops.. My best deal was a 5 tier glass chandelier having 21 lights full size glass hurricane shades and enough crystal roping to make Elizabeth the Queen jealous. I paid 400 dollars. The ones in the glass stores were all over 2 thousand. The brass store just wanted it gone and I made it happen. My best brass chandelier had 18 lights. I bought it in a glass store. I asked the owner how much it would cost to have all of the wiring removed he almost had stroke. He says "why would you want to remove the electric. I told him I wanted to burn real candles in it. he said "you crazy, you burn your house down.". He then said I have had lots of people say here is a watering can how to electric it. I never ever had someone say remove the electric. So when he realized I was serious, he said I'll take out the electrical parts and charge you 60 dollars less. So my 600 dollar chandelier cost me 540 dollars. When I moved I sold the glass one for 1700 and the brass one for a 1000.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Okay. Yea I was thinking of re purposing it and maybe change the style a little. My wife was more like just sell it for 100 to 150 and move on.

We recently sold a similar era and sized chandelier in our shop. It was not quite as nice as yours and was fairly dirty. It brought $250.00. I am in semi-rural Midwest so think you could do better in a big city or if are willing to ship. You might want to check ebay for similar. Be sure to check ones that have actually sold instead of current listings.
