say_it_slowly The worst prison is a closed heart

A few years back while visiting a friend in Scotland, I asked to do a single malt tasting. Not being much of a drinker I wasn't looking for anything in particular.

We set up our own tasting with maybe a half dozen single malts and had at it. I loved it! The variation in taste was amazing!

The trick is to add a few drops of water. They got us trying with and without, and it makes an astonishing difference. The barrel makes a massive impact: sherry or bourbon casks, for example. And then you get into the brew water, be it peaty or heather.

No, it was a regular Macallan, not the eye watering one. I do have a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

My Glasgow kin add bloody Coke or ginger ale to it. Heathens.

Coke or ginger ale in single malt? :wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed: I don't even drink Coke (except the Passover sort if I can find a small bottle) and know better than that! Well grade (i.e. on tap in the pub) rum is one thing, but a good whisky?

Well done. It’s always a good thing to know when to walk away. So easy to get caught up in auction ‘fever’

14 different single malts I've sampled, lovingly

None of them lives up to Jamesons in my opinion
