delft jars, the one on the right has strange mark with three umbrellas. ANyone know what that means?

    They are Dutch tobacco jars, missing their brass lids.
    These were used in tobacco shops, where people (men) would go for a smoke, selecting their favourite tobacco or the best mix. The shop would have a beautiful counter, and tables and chairs, much like a cafe.

    I always like these jars, and use my ca 1900 ones in the kitchen to store herbal teas.

    Not mine, but an example of an 18th century jar for so-called Spanish tobacco blend, "Spaanse":
