It's very much like stuff done by Dorothy Kindell.

Can you get a close-up of the arrow and maybe the writing from the opposite angle to try to piece it together?

Maybe like some sort of warning? Not sure what it says, something like:
    ___VENT TOP BEFORE
    FIGURINE IS NOT____

So maybe the arrow is just pointing to where the vent mark would go?

THAT one is just about IMPOSSIBLE!!!! The lower is the same but gives a more contrasted enhancement....just not enough letters to 'pick up', IMHO!

She didn't shy away from nudes, and it's not difficult to see pieces with the same color combination. On the other hand, she got copied a lot.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It's amazing what you can find here on Antiquers!

The item posted by @ola402 in 2016 appears to say "ALSOVENT" (one word, no space) at the beginning. I'm not sure what that would mean.

After this post, I saw a blog by a potter who showed what happens when you don't vent you little animal figurines. They explode in the kiln. That's when I thought that this piece was hobbyist, like one of those shops you would go to, pick out a piece, paint it and fire it (for a fee). The whiteware had instructions to prevent firing disasters. I wondered if there was a hole in the figurine that lined up with the hole in the shell base. I checked and my pony dish sold immediately in my mall space, but then I put just $8 on it, but it was free in a lot with another piece.

Now we've seen a nude, a mermaid and a pony. I wonder how many others there are out in the world.
