This old rocking chair is in my fiance's basement. She wants to get rid of it. Is it worth saving? There are no cushions for it. I was going to haul it out to the trash for her but thought I'd check first.

Only if you like it well enough to put the effort into to it to make it worthwhile.

    You can always buy cushions.

It's a rocking chair or a glider, I can't tell. You can always try and sell it on Craigs list for a few bucks.

Looks to me like glider. Maybe not antique but close. Spring seat is a nice touch, and wings are cool. So not that old or rare, or very valuable at that, but if you like it, why not save it? Cushions shouldn't be much, and if not loose or wormeaten, maybe you could try that Restaurafinish off the shelf product some people here (worth their salt) swear by.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

As stated above, looks like a decent glider or platform rocker....a bit of refinishing and some nice cushions, and you've got a comfy chair!!! And if that's just dust I see and a little wear on the arm, all the easier!!! IMHO!!!:happy:

If you don't want it, it is not really worth trying to sell in this condition. I would put it curbside for free in case someone else wants to mess with it.

Or advertise FTGH to any pregnant woman who wants it. Those old glider rockers are the best thing ever for rocking babies. I swear there are like 20 of them in the USA and they just keep getting passed from new mom to new mom.

Kind of like Christmas fruit cake, no one bakes them, they just keep passing on the one they got the year before :wideyed:

They're ant-friendly doorstops, so that's about all you can do with them other than make compost.
