    Hi everyone,
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves and are well. Anyway straight to it, I'm looking to buy a pocket watch from Gum Tree (which for those how don't know what this is, it is a free online local selling platform in Australia) so a lady has posted "antique early 1900s pocket watch beautiful design and engraving (she had engravement)" so in the photos you can see the makers name Waltham and it looks in like it is in pretty good condition. I asked if it was cold plated 14k or 24k and if it is in working condition. So she replied with "very small stamp 10361 or 1036a 916514 Warranted us assay BWCCORC Safty barreel no. 8267589 American Walthman Watch Co" with two photos I have uploaded. I know 8267589 is the serial number so I look that up and I think it is this one: Grade: seaside, Model: 1890, Estimated production year: 1897, Run Quantity: 10,000, size: 6s, jewels: 11j and movement finish: Nickel. She also said that she dose not know if it works or if it is gold plated of gold filled. I can't see any 14k or 24k stamp or marks where they should be but it's gold in look so I'm thinking it's less then 14k plated or its brass and the size suggests that it might be a ladies pocket watch but I don't know a lot about pocket watches and she might be asking too much if it does not work and I know American movements are not as valuable. What are all your thoughts and can I put a link for everyone to have a look at the listing?
Thanks for everyones time and look forward to your answers.

I'm with terry. How can you not know if a watch works or not? Don't buy anything from that lady.:shifty:

& funny, you've reminded me that I have a 3rd one....more simple, clean lines but bigger...that I've had for longer...that I keep in a handmade leather box with some little treasures from the back in the 80's.
