Featured Chinese tea bowl

Does anyone know about how old this might be? Not my item.

I know zero about this cup, but looks like it may mate to this saucer.

Yes it is, but the seller's ID is wrong. It isn't Kraak ware, it is Chinese provincial ware from Fujian, also called Kitchen Qing.

The style originated during the Ming dynasty, but most pieces you see nowadays date from the 19th century, so late Qing.
Most of this style provincial ware was exported to Southeast Asia. There it came to be called Batik Ware, because of the resemblance to the wax splashes of batik textiles.

Imo the bowl you showed is antique, but dating these is difficult because there is so little research into Kitchen Qing / Batik Ware. It is said that towards the end designs became more organised looking.
Because the design on this one isn't overly organised, my guesstimate is early 19th century, but that is only a guesstimate.

Maybe @Ken Yap can give us a better time frame.
Ken, I know this isn't your main interest, but maybe you know more because of the link with Peranakan culture.

Much obliged to you and all who have contributed to the thread so far. Just want to make sure I am understanding correctly: This is a "hsien chi chu shou wan" or "immortals fungus birthday congratulations bowl" from the Kangxi Period?

 

That's what it says in the book, but to be honest I am not entirely convinced by it. Your bowl is a much later piece and not from the Kangxi period.
