LOL, Well, i would argue that IF the sideboard in question had a choice, it would choose to be IN A HOUSE where it was used & looked after.
Once a piece of furniture gets demoted out of the house, to a basement, attic, barn, garage, etc. it's chances of survival are dramatically REDUCED!
In it's quest for survival! The sideboard votes........ PAINT IT!

That's a difficult one... I can see both sides and don't have a preference since it belongs to somebody else. One question, though: does she know you are asking us about this?

 

We have decided to try to bring it back to its former glory. May take a while but I feel that top is something that shouldn’t be covered in paint.

I’ll post pictures up as I attempt to restore. I make live edge tables for a living so i’m Not a complete novice. This will be my first restoration so I’m very excited

 

Does this mean we will get a new show on the Travel Channel/HGTV where a lady takes people to swap meats to buy previously flipped furniture and remove the tacky back splashes, remove the chicken wire, strip down the chalk paint and restore them to their original glory?

 

I've been hearing for almost 20 years now that "brown furniture" is on the come back trail, eventually it will but i'd say, not yet.
