DANSK Designs-IHQ Denmark-Wood Thing?...ID Help??

I have searched & cannot ID this??...5" tall...Did it hold,or was it part of something??

 

Is the hole straight down or does the space below become wider than the opening? Is it wood all the way down?

I've never seen this either.

Bakersgma...The hole goes all the way down..Same as opening...It is all wood.

 

Well, as much as I like Komo's plant pot holder, I don't think wood all around would be a good thing. It has to be a holder for something else.

Came across a Jens Quistgaard round serving tray (with divisions) with that same shape in the center. I wonder if this might fit?

That's the shape. May be Jens just liked using it in different ways.
