Hi there! I’m trying to identify this basket. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

The plaited start in the very center of the basket, the way the next few coils are made up of a few interlocking stitches followed by wrapped stitches, and the material it is woven from (which appears to be palm frond) indicate this is a basket from southern Africa. There are no other basketmakers who use this particular combination of techniques and materials.

Aleutia - if you intend to post more baskets for us to comment on, please indicate that they are different posts, perhaps by numbering them. When all have the same title it makes it more difficult to keep track of. Also, please select "full size" when attaching your photos so that they are easier to see.

Oh, I’m so sorry. I’ll do that next time.

Don't worry. It is all a learning experience. :)
