I'm in the process of dispersing a small collection of higher end paperweights purchased in the 1980's. I have a question about the maker and mark on one paperweight. The original owner kept some notes and this weight was said to have been created by Debbie Tarsitano and was purchased in 1984 for $400. The only mark is a capital "T" on a white cane. My research indicates that Debbie Tarsitano marks her weights with a "DT". I've learned that Jon & David Trabucco mark their weights with a "T" but on a green cane not white. Both Tarsitano and the Trabucco's made this kind of paperweight. Can anybody help to explain? Thanks. DSCN7126.JPG DSCN7127.JPG DSCN7128.JPG DSCN7129.JPG DSCN7130.JPG DSCN7131.JPG

I thought I might have found an artist, but his signature is not a discrete T. Lovely faceted paperweight though.

Thank you all for looking and trying to figure this out. Janettekay, where did that information come from? I had a feeling it must be she...you wouldn't pay $400 for a paperweight and NOT get the maker right! But all the texts I have say otherwise. In order to sell it I need to know the truth. I've been selling the weights on eBay the past couple weeks and will continue for a couple more til they're sold. I'll take 2 sets of pix for the rest (my eBay pix are a different size from the forum's) and share the rest with you all. Again, thanks. And let me know, Janettekay.

    You are very welcome.
When I was actively collecting big time, I had many old Selman catalogs. I knew her weights were often offered so took a chance and searched knowing the descriptions often mention signatures.
I did a search online and found an old 2002 E.H. Selman Price Guide & Auction 2002 catalog.

I doubt this link will work..but if not ..I am sure you can find it online.

There were some of her weights and description mentions the "T" signature cane.

Thanks, Janette! (The link worked, by the way.) I feel more confident about the attribution and the veracity of my listing. Appreciate it.

Yes...eye candy for sure!! These publications were/are issued a few times per year, I have some older paper copies which I saved , now they are all online. Just as an FYI..my avatar is one weight from my collection... by Rick Ayotte.

Your are welcome. As someone who gets so much info here, I am very happy to contribute some once in awhile!!!:D BTW...as of late paperweight prices of late are not great, except for very rare pieces. I have not listed any of mine for sale lately as the market is flat for the higher priced ones. When I did list a few, the offers I received were totally unacceptable. :(

I'm finding that out, about the softness of the market. The sales I've made didn't make me happy but were acceptable...just. But I bought this collection to sell and our shop, while doing ok, isn't the venue for expensive paperweights.
