Help with Old Thermometer

    Hi Folks-
    I wonder if someone knows the origin, age or use of this thermometer. There are no marks and I'm not finding any comparables in my searches. Length is 18". Glass thermometer fixed in wood with brass showing degrees in Fahrenheit and Celsius. Pierced at the top for wall mounting. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks.     For cooking, Jam or preserves.

    Nope...scale looks to be to 212F/100C. Need much hotter for jams, etc.

    Having the F and C would be a Carter era thing

    possible dairy thermometer but most of those floated.

    Setting point for jam is 105c (220F) I get lots of these and also the jam pans, similar wood surround thermometers were also used for baths, they floated.
    The UK and many commonwealth countries used F and C.
    Just because the item is in the US doesn't mean it is made in the US.
