Chair age?

    Hello all!
    Found this on the side of the highway today, and being as I love old furniture I just couldn’t pass it up. Any information on the possible age and function is greatly appreciated. It is rather short (seat is a mere 14.5 inches off the ground). I was thinking maybe a slipper chair?     Looks like 1970s to me......

    I was thinking that too from the finish. It might be short because it's missing castors - this may have been an office chair of some sort.
