Can't help, but very interesting. "Dinner and Tea Sets for Teaching Table Setting in Schools." I must have been away that day.

Is there a handle on the cup? Idle guess is early to mid 19th C.

The few references I found online for E J Arnold & Sons dated from Edwardian times (1910-ish) to the 1970s.

The only "Tea Table Song" I found was by a Mr. Didbin and dated 1803. There are also breakfast table songs and dinner table songs of indeterminate age... nothing to measure up to "Baby Shark".

So make of that what you will.

Is there a maker's mark on any of the pieces?

Just a bit of company info:

In 1989 most of the firm was acquired by Nottingham Group plc and merged with Nottingham Educational Supplies to form NES Arnold. Here is a link to the 1897 book and text by Lois Bates with games for teaching children things such as setting the table.

I'm also wondering if any of the pieces in this set are marked.

I think a complete set, with the original box & label, would be highly sought-after. Nice find!

I found the Lois Bates book online, but the date I saw was after 2000 - probably when it was digitized. Also, while the box says Miss L Bates, it's fuzzy, and I was reading it as Alice L Bates.

Anyhow, definitely about 100 years after my original guess.

That's a lovely set. And if my kids are anything to go by a rare survivor. I can't imagine many sets escaped without some collateral damage!. It's actually a very pretty pattern too.
