Please if you can help me identify the wood statue

Dear all,
If you could please help me find more information reglading the wood statue on the photo.
I got it as a present and would like to know more, perhaps country of origin, what does it represent?
What is the man holding?
Statue is 1 m tall.

 

What were you told about it, Sara? I would think African (and in contrapposto which is unusual) but someone who knows better than I will be alone soon.)

It was bought it in Libya, 20 yrs ago. He told me it was from Central Africa.
That all we know unfortunatley...
It's quite heavy also.

 

What is "contrapposto" if I may ask please?

 

Could we see the entire object he is holding?

I have seen similar carvings from colonial period Congo, so I'll tag our Belgian member @Dessert58 for you, she may have seen them in Belgium.

Do you think you can guess how old can it be, judging by it's picture?

 

it a beautiful carving but that style of body and the size would suggest 1980's...or 1990's..... imo..

 

I am afraid I don't have any good ideas regarding this sculpture. It is not a traditional style, which makes it harder to place, and I have not seen a similar work. The "horn" puzzles me, because most traditional African trumpets made from elephant tusk or animal horn are side blown, rather than straight.
