    What is this??

It is heavy(!), I think made of brass? and measures 8.5" x 6"

I've been watching it for the last week at a local thrift store for it to go to 1/2 price - today it finally did; going from $69.95 to $35

I thought it was a 1766 brass shop sign until I got it outside - now I think it's only 1966!!
But I still can't tell what half of it says or have any idea what it is/was?
Can anyone help me with this one?
    I appreciate any info.

Looking at it here made me think of something - could this be a fireman's plaque that was hung outside houses & business' to show they were insured?

I don't think it has anything to do with fire fighting...

Is that the word BORLANGE in the middle? (Borlänge is a city in Dalarna County, Sweden.)

And the language looks like Swedish to me. Something with Skandinaviska banken, Scandinavian bank? Maybe @judy can read it?

Wallboard in copper depicting Blacksmith and Copper mat. The copper panels are made by the artist Allan Ebeling in the 19450 / 60s. Height 20 cm. Width 16.5 cm. The genuine copper figure "Kopparmatte" was erected on the shampoo bar 1600-1700 century at Gamla Stan in Stockholm. He is now standing on the steps of the City Museum in Stockholm. The paintings are made for Enskilda Banken.

I think the copper mat is meant to be the anvil, and with some cross-translating between several languages I think the shampoo bar is a pillory, but in this case probably just a pillar or streetpost.
I like the idea of a shampoo bar though.:)

I saw that - and that it sold at auction for 11 cents??!!
What is it exactly (I know I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box) - a brass relief? Of what?
If/when I put it on ebay what do I say - it was a gift from a bank & made by Allan Ebeling, right? (unless this is a copy?). It's heavy/sturdy enough - do you think it was in a wall in the bank or given to the bank to be mounted?
Again, sorry if I missed it - but what is it a relief of? A miner?
Was it worth the $35? (I am SO glad I didn't buy it for $69 - in the store's light it looked liked 1766 & I was tempted to buy it then thinking it was a early colonial sign or something!)
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help

A blacksmith and a copper something.
Maybe they had reliefs of different professions?

I would say it's a woodsman or a woodcutter - the equivalent of an American lumberjack.

Looks a bit like the "tin woodsman" from the Wizard of Oz. Standing in front of a log cabin type building.
