Welcome einir. Here is a link to a thread that explains how to post pictures and start a thread: https://www.antiquers.com/threads/making-a-post-and-uploading-pictures.16038/
Greetings, einir! There's info about posting pictures here https://www.antiquers.com/threads/posting-a-thread-and-uploading-pictures.15990/ If you need more info, just ask!
Waring and Gillow are very highly regarded English furniture makers. Their stuff will sell at a premium when other brown furniture will not sell at all. Painting it silver would be an extremely bad idea.
I would love to post a photo and I have been trying g for hours however I just keep getting a message telling me there is an error as the jpg is too big I have followed the instructions unfortunately on my phone there doesn't seem to be an option for sizeing
Well, at least you know that the makers' name alone indicates value and that it would not be a good idea to paint it. I thought that all phones had a resizing option. Maybe you could do an internet search on "resize photos [with your phone type after that]" -- I've often found good information that way. Another thing that some people suggest is to email the photo to yourself. Generally the email app will allow resizing automatically. My phone usually gives me three options for resizing when I attach a photo.
If you dont have an app to resize the image, there is a small tick you can use. Take the picture from a small distance away, putting the subject matter about 1/3 of the frame. Then on your phone crop edit(bring the boarders into the subject area wanted) the image, all phones have this ability. This will greatly reduce the image data size. An average modern phone image will be about 2.XXmegapixels, but by doing this, you will bring it closer to about .6 megpixels, this will upload to website Note: same procedure will work for the marking inside, just make sure you focus well. Good luck, hope to see images soon.
My mother in law had two big armchairs made by Waring and Gillow and they were so comfortable... and excellent quality...
Welcome einir. (If you have a Macbook pro, you can drag and drop your photos into Downloads, open them up, click Tools to Adjust the size and then drag and drop into your post.) Others have posted better information.
If you are on a cell phone, email it to yourself size medium. Save from email, and upload the resized ones. Check Full size for all images.
I would like to know what a partners desk would go for. I just inherited one from my father. I know it's from ealy 1900's. It's in decent shape. A few scratches, but that's all.
