    Aha. I learned a different version of the explanation, based in part on the Cathar wars. One was the language of those who lost, basically, and the other that of the conquerors. Plus, Catalan is supposedly the Latin of foot soldiers, Castellano that of officers.

    I keep going back to those "fluted bun feet" in pic #2 because they are so unusual, Victorian? A quick search only produced 1 table with feet remotely similar, an english victorian dining table.

    Yes I did a search on english victorian and I definitely see similarities. chest.jpg
