A fellow picker found this at a antique shop (he paid $60 for it!) but hasn't been able to find anything on the artist, so he asked me if I would ask for help on the forum I'm always telling him about (here of course!)
He and I tried Boris Rey and I even tried Beris Rey but nothing. Any idea of the artist? (I don't know why it seems familar but it does)
    Any thoughts on the painting?
    Thank you!

I see "B. Rey," "London '64" and "Made in Sweden." What's crossed out under London?

Looks like ‘RHNES’ to me or is that is part of it?

Could be a reused canvas, the crossed out part and the "made in Sweden" part could be related to the earlier life as a different painting.

IMO, the subject looks like something out of "Alien". Different strokes for different folks though!

That may well be it. What at first glance looks like an "o" could be an "e."

I'm coming up with a David Beris Rey from Gloucestershire, where Cheltenham is located. Dates work: 1934-2013. There's a Danyon Rey on Facebook if you'd like to inquire.

He does - he's where I want to be one day; he has 2 employees that photograph, list & when it sells they pack & ship his find - he just goes hunting & finds the treasures (the best part!).
Thanks for helping me help him, you guys are the Best!

Beris Rey is my father. An Artist who lived in London in the 50s and 60s. I recognise his signature and see it's also dated 1961. He studied in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Born in Glasgow 1934.

Thank you so much for sharing that information. We enjoyed researching (as best we could) your father's work. A very interesting piece.

And very attractively framed. Wonder how it ended up in Florida.

How great it this! So good to hear from a family member! I wonder if Danyon has ever seen this painting that his father did so long ago.

    Hi everyone,
So nice to see another painting by my father Beris Rey. This is the first time we have seen this painting. Love seeing his art work. Thanks for searching.

    Hi,

Beris Rey was my Grandfather. It’s so nice to see people admiring his work & all the way in Florida. Is your acquaintance selling the painting, I’d love to purchase it & reunited with the family?
