    @Any Jewelry Any reaction to this? Name could be Dutch in origin, but think shape of cartouches is wrong for Netherlands marks?

    Franeker is the name of a town in Friesland. The examples found were by makers from Franeker. Frisian silver is very collectible.
    Some Dutch town names are also used as surnames, but Franeker isn't one of them. Frisian surnames often end in -a, usually -ma or -stra. For instance Tamsma or Dijkstra.
    I don't know much about Dutch silverplate, so couldn't comment on the other marks.

    Perhaps. But think it is more that motifs that evoke Dionysus/Bacchus have long been used to convey hospitality & conviviality.
