My parents are still selling on eBay at 79 and 80 years old so they are always are asking me for help and advice. this is one from this weekend.
They sold a tumble-up carafe with glass on may 21 this year. and received an email just Saturday four weeks after the sale and three weeks after receiving the item informing them that the glass was broken and wanted to know what they were going to do about it.
Should they just accept the fact that they waited this long or do you think something is wrong.

I would ask for a picture of the damage and then just give them a refund. If your parents don't, the buyer still has a bit of time to file with ebay which they will probably do and your folks will have to refund anyways.

Buyers should let you know right away when something is wrong, but sometimes life gets in the way.

There's always a chance that it broke after the buyer received it, but there's no way to know, and no way to prove it, so I'd probably just refund and be done with it.

And I'd definitely ask for a photograph of the damage. If someone's trying to scam them, they'll go away real quick when they can't provide any evidence. :)

Thanks, i was thinking the same myself. But three weeks?
I am waiting for a call from my mom to let me know what happened. She was going to ask for a picture of the damaged glass.
Susan i don't know if they left FB but I will in a few minutes.
They are in the middle of their evening domino match lol.

    Well, I will admit something.

Last month, I bought some "sterling" abalone appetizer picks (to resell) that turned out to not be silver. I immediately emailed the seller to let her know the mistake in the listing, and we agreed on me mailing them back to her for a refund.

Right at that time we were heading down to the jersey shore, then we came back and I had to catch up on everything, and then and then..... LOL. Needless to say, I never sent them back. Sometimes stuff just gets in the way of getting things done.

Then again, in my case, we're talking about $5 including shipping. I definitely would not have been so lackadaisical about it if it had been more than that.

time delays can happen as life get in the way and one should never presume evil intent. Remember that everyone is playing by eBay rules which allows buyers 30 days from the delivery date (latest estimated) to file a complaint; tho' many sellers honor beyond that timeframe. It is reasonable to ask for proof of damage, such as photos.

Well the buyer has not replied to the email sent two days ago with the offer of refund after they see pics of the damage.
