Small ornate spoon /tiny toddy ladle

    Might someone know something about the origins of this spoon? 17 cm top to bottom.
    Not sure of the metal - dull silver colour at present. It's possible that the bowl was gilded. No marks at all. Not heavy. Photos of front and back. Front is second photo down. A bit hard to tell.

    Think the crossed keys & papal tiara indicate a souvenir from the Vatican. More a ladle than a spoon.

    I'm going to further guess that from the way, if you turn the handle the other way round, the tiara looks like the body of a bee, that this was for the Barberini Pope Urban VIII.

    Thanks very much, Bronwen. Got it in one. I think the ladle bit threw me.
    Now I look again, they're everywhere in one guise or another.
