Lizzyrice24 We live in Eastern Tennessee, while driving through one of the old towns, I saw a sign stating items up for sale inside. This building had been sitting unoccupied for a long time and I had always been curious about it. When I got inside, it was packed full of everything from old tools to 1980's toys, all were covered in dust and very untidy. The previous owner used the building for storage and was an extensive collector of anything and everything. I saw the corner of one of these carved pictures and had to remove piles of books and magazines off of them to be able to look at them. I saw their beauty and admired the hard work that had been put into them so I purchased the pair. Sadly, I'm not any kind of expert in art or antiques leaving these a complete mystery to me. Can someone help educate me on these? I would appreciate any comments on these.
I am posting this from your other thread, in case they make more sense together. I see holes on the edges, maybe they were attached at some time? Like a triptych?

The style looks familiar to me, but can't think... Shortish trousers, open jackets/shirts, clothing-wise right now all I can think of is Madura, which it certainly isn't. It has to be a warm climate with those open jackets/shirts, Philippines maybe? @2manybooks do you have an idea?
Philippines might be a good guess. The wood reminds me of Philippine "mahogany"/luan. Perhaps one of our furniture people could weigh in on the wood. @verybrad? I can't place the figures. The first panel looks like 2 men fleeing a house (for some reason). The second panel looks vaguely religious/Christian - perhaps Moses being hidden in the reeds?
Wood appears to be dry and without finish so can't really tell wood in this state. I get a Southeast Asian feel from these but beyond that can't really help.
