Hand carved Reprobus aka St. Christopher

    Early blackforest carving of St. Christopher before he was allegedly transformed by a supernatural transmorgrification. Anyone know time period? There was previously an X on top of his stick but it was broken off.

    Gorgeous little carving, Wolfgang.
    In European tradition a fox or wolf dressed as a monk is a symbol for the devil.
    St Christopher was not a monk, btw, but I am all for a bit of supernatural transmogrification, as long as it doesn't get scary.:playful:

    Lovely - his pose/posture is so graceful and expressive!

    BTW - You can drag and drop multiple images onto your post, then select full size for all - it's very easy... Relieves @i need help of all that heavy lifting :)
