This was at a Retirement Centers Thrift Store. Horn or Shell shaped Scoop. Measures 5" by 4" Scoop section 2.25" Wide. It has like a copper paint or coating with a lot of verdigris. I am not sure if it is ceramic even with white showing where chipped. I think there is a name? What did I buy for a Quarter?

It's in the shape of a nautilus shell.

Plaster cast of a nautilus painted to vaguely look like ammolite?

Looks like from the chip on the edge, a plaster casting of a Nautilus shell and painted copper color with some green....looks decorative more than anything to me........

I agree, decorative rather than functional like a scoop. It is the kind of thing people put in a decorative bowl or dish with other pretty ornaments. Very nice for a quarter.:) Just needs a little paint (kyratisation) on the chip.

Would think it's a bit shallow for a scoop, not to mention heavy, if it's plaster. Is it heavy for size?

Genuine nautilus shells have been used to make things. I have a salt cellar with a turned wood pedestal base & a section of shell for the bowl.

And they used to make gorgeous decorative vessels with them:
