Stoneware Jug

Wonder if it’s worth asking Crockery Farm or just a nothing special jug?

Is the one from the link salt or bristol glaze?

Also, note that mine is glazed in green on the interior. Is that common?

 

"The interiors vessels were sometimes coated with brown clay slip or an iron oxide wash to create an impermeable interior surface (Greer 1981:197). Salt glazed vessels usually date prior to the twentieth century ftn1 and the absence of slip on the interior usually indicates a vessel made prior to 1860"

The shape already shows its nearer 1900's I believe. No idea if the green color itself signifies anything.

I do know that in glaze designs and marks get collectors excited, so this is plain in comparison.

But wondering, what does "nothing special" mean? That it's not going to show up on antiques roadshow?

 

I agree about the shape, maybe the earliest were done in 1880’s.

Nothing special as common shape, no decoration, lack of marks etc.. The only thing that can make it special is if attribution to a known maker can be made but I would think that’s not the case here.
