Is it some type of a trash can? I bought it at a second hand store and just thought it was neat! It is huge and is really heavy. It is 16.5” inches tall and 11.5” inches wide and weighs 5lbs.

    Thanks so much!

Floor vase, trash can, cane/umbrella stand, and work of art. It is what you want it to be. Nice piece!

Any of those will work! I love it, I think its very unique, but very different from anything I've ever seen. Do you think it is hand carved? I can send more close up pictures if you need me to. I'm just curious?
Thank you for your advice and expert information!

True. But is the wood from a cypress tree? As in a "cypress knee."

No idea. I have a similar much smaller one here that's identified as ash by the person who made it; it's carved into the bottom. There must have been a fad for making these about 40 years ago. It looks like something I was told was Diamond Wood from Alaska, but ... dunno.

I can't tell the wood. Don't think it is cypress. Seems more like a hardwood of some kind.
