I recognize the subject of this figure, but the medium is a little out of my experience. I found one other example on the web, which retains a label from "Andrea by Sadek". This seems to be a home decor supplier that commissions objects from other manufacturers.

My question is, can anyone tell me the original manufacturer of this figure, and an approximate date? The only marks are a "CB" impressed on the back, and the number 7780 stamped on the base.

Was ready to suggest you ask them, since it is still a going concern, but:

Looking for the official website? Alas, the site doesn't exist anymore. The above text I took from www.sadek.com when it was still owned by the Charles Sadek Import Company.

two other commissioned pieces (of different style and subjects) each have the "made in Japan" label, and the first similar red stamping:

even more suggest a pattern of "made in Japan". That might narrow down the search to Japanese manufacturing companies. As I was surfing, the older 'vintage' pieces seem to use the red and then transitioned to black later.

The C is so strange, could it be a 'fantasy' mark since it's a private label piece?

Merely observations. "medium is a LOT out of my experience."

Magnified the remaining label on the other example I found - "Made in Japan".
Can I just delete this whole thread?:shame:

Was that all you wanted to know? I was going to point out that if the CD was the maker or artist, but the name was Japanese, could be tough. :hilarious:

I suppose if anyone else wants to pursue the "CB" they should feel free. I just have my head in a paper bag right now. Must have been all those dandelions I dug out yesterday........

I recently learned dandelions are edible!! :cat:

I think the first figurine is a desirable one, never mind "made in Japan", the figurine seems to emulate the muted colors and desirability of Lladro and the subject matter would seem to me to make it collectible in its own right.

Thanks for the f&f link and for the Andrea by Sadek info, @Bronwen
