I believe this is a twin leg gate leg table.
I would like to know how old it is.
Also what type of wood it is made of.
    The two leaves are hinged.
They are stored inside the table. Is the storage referred to as an apron skirt?
For sure is it a twin leg?
    Unopened it is approx. 35"long
Extended it is approx. 74" long.
    Approx. 24" Wide
Do you think it has value?
    Thank You
    Ginny

I know it is a drop leaf gate leg table.
I disagree about the butterfly drop leaf, because they are usually small and oval. Although the pieces holding the leave's up could resemble a butterfly wing.
    Thank You Alex!

Oh, there is also a hook, you'll see it in one of the pics. But what was it used to hook onto? I don't see the eye.

Think 40s - 50s. Wood appears to be maple. The splitting to the top will limit value which isn't all that great to begin with.

Agrees with Brad & Alex above, colonial revival piece that has the drop leaf & butterfly styles all in the same piece. Probably hard maple.

a gate leg would normally indicate a swinging leg or 2 which did the job of the wing.

Does your table split in the middle to add extra top pieces? The hook may be missing the eye to hold the 2 top pieces together when the inserts are not installed.

I did find the eye. When table is not extended, I believe it to be reinforcement, making sure it stays together?
And yes it has two leaves that are stored in what I think is called the apron skirt. This is located with in the table.
