Chinese or Japanese jar, age?

Thought the decoration and construction on this jar to be hand decorated and a bit better than obvious recent reproductions, but don't know age or really where it is from. About 5" in height and diameter. Interior looks and feels to be hand done, not from a mould. Would guess China but not sure? More pics if needed. Any thoughts, @John Brassey @Ce BCA or others?

I've no clue about age, or origin except I'm leaning toward Chinese. It appears to be a Ginger Jar, missing its cover. Lovely bold color...nice!

Well I have to admit that these pics look like crap. Did the max size change? I needed to keep making them smaller until it would finally accept them, and now they look out of focus. And my background was a lousy choice, it makes the white look much whiter than it really is. Guess I need to try new pics with my camera instead of cellphone. Will post tomorrow. Is it still a ginger jar when only five inches?

I don't know that there's a minimum size...but the one you have sure fits the description. The twin circles on the base, and what appear to be cherry blossoms, are in conflict, to me; I'll yield to other & wiser folks hereabouts!

I stand corrected! They are, according to one of those eBay listings, Prunus blossoms. A new one on me, but I'm still learning my craft.

Yes, prunus blossoms. A relative gave me one that he bought in Hong Kong, and it looks nearly identical to yours. It's a ginger jar and should have a lid. I have to say that it would be very hard to say when, where and who as this type is ubiquitous.

I’ve got several of these, picked up from Charity shops etc, the newer ones are lighter in weight and brighter in colour so I don’t buy those. I hope the ones I’ve got are 19th century but I’m not sure. Design is prunus blossoms, sometimes the pattern is called cracked ice. Most of mine don’t have lids either.
I would have bought yours, it looks heavier, older, pitted surface inside with blue rings underneath.

Thanks for responses. Here are (hopefully) much better and more representative pictures taken with a real camera on white background. Merry christmas everyone!:
