My father in law has a dagger that was taken by his uncle during WWII in Germany. I can't figure out the symbol. Any help would be appreciated.

Almost the only information in those pictures is that you have at least one hand and no photgraphic ability,
Place the item on a neutral background in a well lit place, show the whole thing in and out of the scabbard with close ups (in focus) of the details.

I think komokwa has pretty well nailed it alreadt in general terms.

Just want to add that the symbol is the "all seeing eye" or "eye of providence" and is a common masonic symbol, or as komo mentioned perhaps another fraternal organization.

"eye brand" used to be a recognized logo, and this one does look familiar to me.

wonderful research work by you all.
found an interesting detail in a German forum.

short and sweet: eye in use after 1945; brand taken over by an importer after bancrupty of Schlieper: now used by an ex-supplier for delivery to US-importer.

in other remarks it's obvious that Schlieper wasn't a quality factory for one party and very good for others; got stuff made in Asia etc..
