This trunk was in my in-laws attic. Had some clothes of my wife's grand mother in it but I have had little luck in figuring out it's age. The scroll work feels and sounds like possibly tin. Thanks in advance.

I realize it's in pretty rough shape.

Beautiful trunk! Probably tin. What does the inside look like? Not useful as a coffee table (dome top), but useful for seasonal blankets, Christmas ornaments, etc.

I will have to look as I don't remember what the inside is like.

I'd say ca. 1880-1900. And yes, tin.

    Probably lined in covered wood/cardboard.
Should have an insert in it.

That's were I kept mine - foot of the bed. In summer, all the quilts and blankets were in there.
