Found outside at an estate we did recently. (!)
At first, I thought it was an old horse blanket, but now I'm thinking it was a service issue blanket for a soldier.
If a image of the side selvedge would be useful, let me know.

I was able to track down another Hickok at the same address who attended Dartmouth in 1934. Any input would be appreciated!

I've been MIA - got too busy working for others to take the time to satisfy my own curiosity! Miss this forum!

Maybe but in such a case for military it's usually last name first.

That looks like a summer camp or school blanket sent with a child who's mom wrote his name on a patch and sewed it on.

I still have a blankee like that somewhere...

    Ha!!!!!!
Oh it's ok komo.....pat-pat. My step sis had hers, and it was blue too like you-know-who's, until she was quite far beyond when she should have. Yes...I know but I couldn't do anything about it, step-mom...she was good to me but...ah well. Sis still has a huge gap between her front teeth because of it. :(

I also had "boo banky" that was loved, quite literally, to pieces.
But I never sucked on mine. :)

I have my son's blankey --what's left of it is in a small ziplock bag.

When I went away to school everything (EVERYTHING) I took with me had to have a name tag either sewn into it or permanently marked in laundry marker- including skivees, shoes, socks, neckties, sheets and blankets, books, and photograph frames. Even pens were "monogrammed" with an engraving tool. My opinion here is either school or camp.........
