Hi, i acquired this bowl at my local thrift shop for 5.00 I noticed on the bottom is reads "b and co" then a line then underneath the line it says "france". I tried to get the best picture i could of the mark and had to mess with the filters a bit just to bring it out as the mark is black on black so it was very hard to make out even in person. I can not find any information on this bowl. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify it and possible age? Thank you for any information. Sorry for the white sticker residue by the mark.

D&C France probably. Saw a few with the same shape as yours with a quick search, but didn't see any in a black/gold color scheme with an elephant.

I think you are right maybe it does read "d and Co" I guess I thought it was the letter "b" I have tried for a good 40 min before posting on here but can't find anything.

Search for D&C France Box in google and you'll see similar.

Stands for Delinieres & Co I guess. Most people seem to just list items as D&C France though.

Thanks kronos. Any idea of age? Also it measures 7 1/2 inches in diameter and 3 1/2 in tall.

    Late 1800's most likely.

B & Co. is Bernardaud & Co. They were the successor company to Delinieres & Co. I can't really see the mark well (need a new glasses prescription) but as you describe it it would date to 1900-1914. It was sold as white ware to be decorated by another company or individual.

Very similar marks. Gonna be hard to determine which, though I think it doesn't really matter value wise. It'll sell more for the decoration than which company made it.

Did the B&Co France mark only have the line under the &? A quick look shows it as such, and the D&Co mark having a line that goes all the way across the name.

Thank you all for the info at first I thought it was b&Co but after Kronos said it appeared to be d&Co I think it might be d&Co because line goes all the way across the "d&co" unlike the mark "b&co"

I agree that this was not decorated by the company that made it. It was probably exported to the US undecorated. If it had been decorated by the porcelain make, they would not have obscured the mark.

IMHO, it matters little if it is B&Co or D&Co. While there is a slight age difference, the companies are connected, and the fact that it wasn't decorated by either company makes that point mute.
