No date mark? 9ct pocket watch chain

I bought this awhile ago and always thought it was odd that there was no date mark on this piece. Each individual link is market 9 and then 375. The bar however has the maker mark E.C any idea on that? Tried finding the maker mark online of course no luck. Maybe some of you might help? Anyhow here is the piece! I paid scrap for it.

Thank you! That's definitely the mark! I just have to assume its early 1900s.

 

Some older British gold isn't marked at all, I think it has something to do with size and/or weight. Or assay dodging.

It's also very common to see it without town marks, or with just 9 ct. I don't think the maker will matter on this, as af says, blokes in a shed. It will either sell on scrap weight or slightly above if someone wants it as a necklace.
