    Hi All,
I'm the pits at trying to figure out this type of glass, so not sure if this is considered EAPG, a little syrup, 4 1/4"H. This has a sharp glass point on the bottom, a pontil point?. The spout part is missing on this, not sure if it is worth listing or not.
    Any information appreciated
    thanks for looking:)

That is a cut-shut mark on the base. These were pressed with the plunger going through th base to form a smooth flat interior and neck. When the plunger was with drawn enough glass was left for a worker to tool it over and seal the boase. Any excess glass was cut off leaving the tail..

THAT is interesting. No, it isn't gone, it doesn't appear to have ever been there, the metal cover is a recent addition.

Someone else will have to tell you what it's for, I have no idea...

This is a syrup/molasses jug. The top is wrong, as stated in prior posts. The original top could have been one of several that were used. The original would have been attached with putty, that was also used to attach oil lamp collars. A search on E-Fee for syrups should show several that might have been used on the original.

To my knowledge, the are no reproduction tops available. You might find a broken syrup and rob a usable top. However, It might not be worth the effort.
