    Hi everyone,

I found this painting at a local auction. It measures 16x20. There is a signature scratched into the paint at the lower left corner, but I can't read it. The wooden stretchers are marked "chemically treated' so that might date it. Can someone help? Also, is it a 'good' painting or just student work? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I enlarged the signature and then removed some of the color. Second word looks like Flag.

What an interesting scene. Wonder what those stones are. Tombstones or ancient megaliths? From woman's clothing I'd think 1950ish. Looks like it was painted by someone who knew what s/he was doing but was doing it in a hurry. Tree painted with care and detail but bottom left hand corner just filled in quickly.
