I just purchased this. I am not sure what it is. My guess it is an antique toilet paper hold.
    Am open for your thoughts
    thanks
It is Heavy brass and the height is adjustable from 19in to 28in

I think you are correct in it's use.
    However, it is not antique.

Not older than the 1980s, but I am only guessing.

It does appear to be a brass toilet paper stand. And likely made fairly recently.

Since fire irons and umbrellas are pretty standard length, I don't see the necessity for the thumb screw to adjust the height. I would also expect to find a tray of some sort at the base to catch drips from an umbrella or wayward soot from fire irons.

Well I was going to say to hold towels, but now I am not sure of what I am thinking.

TP holder. It's made for those new giant rolls.

But how do you get both of those "arms" inside the roll at the same time?

    Hi,
Do not think for the large rolls just the regular rolls of TP.
Remember them (the holder) back in the 1980s.
