Any ideas of the language or translation please?. Thinking Russian or similar?
The clasp looks old but the rest looks more modern?
One edge is slightly chipped and looks like old lead inside- you know how lead can look crumbly when it starts to deteriorate but another more recent chip the inside is whiter and looks like plaster. Stamped U 15K
    Thanks :)

Russian. The bit on the back is the price. 15 kopeks. I'm too sleepy to translate. ;)

The 15k might be the gold plate fineness

The back is the easy bit to read; the 15k is the price. It's some sort of Soviet souvenir pin. Just don't ask me from what; my Russian stinks.

I've just tested it on a touchstone and the acid didn't dissolve it so you may well be right.

The language could also be Macedonian

Could be any of several Slavic languages, but I guess Russian.

    Perhaps an argali ram.

Or mouflon, like the ones in Alpine regions. They also live in Kazakhstan, as do their cousins Argalis. So could be either.
