    Hello everyone.

I'm new to this and have a sort of vintage looking teapot but I know nothing about it. I'm going to upload a picture and the only markings I can find on it is a hand painted message on the bottom that says "Made in Japan."

Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Hi Demanda80 and welcome! You may want to take a pic of the bottom of the piece and add it to this thread.

    Hi, Demanda, and welcome!

It's Japanese lustreware (lusterware) and was probably made just after WWII, based on what you've said about the markings. Lustreware was made before the war, too, however, so please post a photo of the marks.

Thanks so much for the quick replies. I got a picture of the bottom and the marking. I checked everywhere else and couldn't find anything.

Unfortunately, that very simple "Made in Japan" is not identifiable to a specific maker. Post 1921 (because it says Japan instead of Nippon) and likely not during the US occupation following WWII is about the best I can do.

I really like this type of decor. I happen to personally think it's before the war, but it really could be after as well.
