HELP! I'm pulling my hair out here :nailbiting: I have 2 of these 6 3/4" diameter x 7 1/2" handle-handle x 1 3/8" high FK Sapphire Blue dishes/lids? with thumb tab handles. I have TAGF book FK & more 2nd ED and can't find these within the pictures nor list. I've searched replacements and they have one that looks similar bit list it as 7 1/4" 1qt casserole. This only holds 1 pint filled to the rim. I've been all over eBay and Terapeak looking for anything that would give me an idea. I pretty sure (maybe :() they aren't pie plate covers/lids, which have a inner ring to fit in the casserole.
    TIA, Carl

I know TAGF had it in one of his early DG books. but I can't find my copy of that edition. It was dropped in later books.

Yes thank you, these are the Fire King Sapphire Blue/Philbe pattern. I'm trying to figure out exactly what the name of the pieces are not the pattern.;)

DUH! Note to self.......read whole post before answering LOL! The glass Outcrops on the tabs would indicate that they are casserole lids. The actual casserole Dishes have indents on the tab handles that your "outcrops" fit into.
As to the absence of a ring to fit into the casserole dish, I (think?) only the ones that have Knob Handles have that feature.

I can buy that being casserole lids(thanks) but I can't seem to find a casserole listed as that size. Yes, the knob handles have inner lips but I also have 2 pie plate covers with the lip that fits inside a casserole with no knobs. Hmm, I just realized I also have the bottom to a larger than this lid casserole with the same thumb tab handles. Therefore, wouldn't these be the bottoms that take a knob handle? I'm confused about these pieces.

Replacements says the lid to the 1 qt. casserole is 6 3/4 inches.

Thanks Janet. TAGF says there is pie plate lid for the 1st casserole. This must be it. May I ask how you found that on replacements?

That's a good question, because when I went back to look, I could only find one that says Knob. I think I must not have noticed that little detail! I'm sorry, Carl; I'll look some more tomorrow.

Yeah, I saw that one but mine is only 1 3/8" high and that one is 2 3/4. I filled mine up and it only holds 1 pint. A 1 pint casserole is listed in the book but only measures 5 5/8" with a knob handle lid.

I think those pieces are like the silver vegetable dishes with lids that can also be serving dishes. As I recall, my grandmother gave me oatmeal in one of those. NO! It was cream of wheat, because I loved the blue and white combination.

Probably so silverwait but I can't determine which casserole or serving dish they fit. Reckon I'll just have to wing it when I get them listed today.

Any chance they were mean to stand alone?

I'm thinking they could be some kind of serving dish but they are shallow at 1 3/8" and only hold 1 pint. I can't find a reference for them at all.

Why don't you think you have the lid to the bottom part I referenced? Same diameter, same tabs.

I'm sure it could be Janet. I find it strange that I can't find a reference online to the 1qt being 6 3/4" when the book says it is 7 1/4". Also, if the bottom has the thumb tab and the top has the thumb tab, how would the top seat? I agree they are pie plate lids. At least that is how I will list them. Thank you

I was assuming one piece was an "innie" and the other an "outie", but, if not, that's a game-changer all right. I see why these are hard to find--the breakage must have been really high with so little to grip, and no silicone mitts back then.

Thanks for all the help. I've been listing all my other pieces of Sapphire Blue and just about to get to this one.
