    You've cut the top off, so I can't tell if she's a lamp or a compote. Please show the bottom.

    Looks like an oil lamp missing some of the pieces.

    It doesn't look like an oil lamp. It IS an oil lamp and a pretty neat one at that. I thought I had seen all of the figure stem lamps, but not that one. May I borrow it for a few years?

    PS What is that girl holding. The world wants to know!

    What? No guesses as to what this woman is holding. Looks like a boat oar, but not likely. Any WAG's out there.

    I'd guess it is a shepherdess staff.

    My first thought was a shepherd's staff, but don't those have a hooked end and she is very well dressed. She is rather stately, so perhaps a statement of rank???? She doesn't look dressed for baking.

    Alas, we may never know for sure.
