    Not sure what type of metals were used. Any help with the maker/origin?

    Brass. Very well made. With that number, might be British rather than Indian.

    I think it is plated metal. Besides 2920 there is also 23 mark.

    What style best fit the decoration, Victorian, etc...? Have you seen that type of hasp before?

    Sort of Victorian copying earlier styles - the hasp is mimicking mediaeval.

    I wondered about the hasp also.
    That pin doesn't seem to be held by anything once it's in or I could see it as a stumbling block to trying to turn the lock without the key so...
    Is there something about it we can't see or is it smooth all around?
    It may push something in that can't be moved until the key is in so simply lifting it doesn't help access.
    Do you have the key?
