Hey all I'm trying to find a nice 8mm or so tahitian pearl bracelet but am having trouble finding a reputable place to get one. I look on ebay and everything seems way too cheap to be real and most are from China? I see one or two real ones on a jewelry site like the Pearl Source but a single bracelet is almost $1000. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Well, there's TIFFANY. (At least one knows they're real)

Real Tahitian pearls are spendy. If they come cheap they're either not the real thing or a blind-luck tag sale find. The latter doesn't happen very often, but I wouldn't say never. Most times if you see large pearls for a moderate price, they're Chinese freshwaters.

The Pearl Source, Pearls of Joy, Pearl Paradise
are all trustworthy and reputable vendors.
They are all highly regarded on a jewelry forum that I frequent.
I have made two purchases from The Pearl Source, and was very pleased.
But Tahitians will be expensive, regardless.
I have heard that Wen Pearl has nice pearls at good prices, but I have not used them.

    Check into https://www.etsy.com/shop/tehotumana
Te Hotu Mana has been in biz many years. While I usually shop in person, I wouldn't hesitate to order anything I want from them. They will stand behind their work if you are not satisfied. Generally excellent prices.

I think Te Hotu Mana creations are the most "Tahitian" that I am aware of that is commercially sold. I like them so much, I subscribe to their emails to see when they will have a pop up store event. The designs are more "Tahitian" than Maui Pearl Divers, who sell beautiful pearl joolz and also stand behind their work, but their designs are more "Hawaiian" in appearance.

    Hope this helps you, @spartcom5

It occurred to me that Ross-Simons, a reputable source, might have a more affordable offering. Here's a very attractive bracelet on clearance.

Sorry but even the Ross&Simon price seems absurd for what that is and I question the colors as advertised but realize they may be real Tahitian pearls anyway, maybe just lower quality than I am accustomed to, or a bad photograph is most likely.

Pearl strands and creations can be sourced much less expensively from Tahiti.

Thank you for all the suggestions I never realized how expensive tahitian pearls were. I would love to source them directly but I'll probably end up buying something on the pearl source!

@spartcom5 one place that I can recommend, but that is far from cheap, is Sidney Garber Fine Jewelry in Chicago. They have many gorgeous things. I just took a peek, and at the moment, there are three Tahitian pearl items for sale. Try not to faint at the price.:greedy::greedy:

If it is any consolation, the owner "gives all her profits to not-for-profit organizations dedicated to children’s mental health, the arts, racial justice and ending gun violence."
