the R 1762 mark, I've seen this a few times

    its an example. Im not asking about this particular piece but the mark in general. Ive seen it a couple times recently and no one seems to have a good identification it.

    I have seen that mark and assumed it to be Rudolstadt. Further investigation tonight this is what I found.

    Single capital 'R' above the number '1762', often incorrectly claimed to be a Greiner (Rauenstein, Thuringia) mark.
    The mark is unknown

    Hi SD: yeah I have found nothing else. The thing I see most is people identify it as "continental" and nothing more.
