Please help on identifying this Hebrew book , its subject , its date , and the two signatures on i t .

The Italian at one end was the tip!

 

It was approved by someone for something. Or maybe Authorized is a better translation. My Italian stinks once you get past kitchen stuff. There might be printing data on the last page. European books often put it there.

 

Well, I found a site that has a way to enter Hebrew letters https://www.branah.com/hebrew (after turning it right side up), and then put it into Google Translate. And got this result:
"But you will look like a machete"
So, something went wrong, or it is a really interesting book.

 

I tried it and got Four Questions, which makes sense if this is a religious text.

 

Using the volunteer translator thread I came up with the following members who have volunteered for Hebrew:

For the first two words in largest letters I get a translation of 'There were fasts'. And evelyb30 got 'Four questions', so think we are looking at a Haggadah, the ritual for Passover observances. OK, now let's hide the Matzoh!

 

I'd guess this is late 19th to early 20th century and meant to get beaten on. A lot of Jewish literature was printed on cheap high-acid paper back then. They're busily copying everything they can find at at least one Yiddish book repository, before they fall apart.

 

I really want it to be this one.
