Hello everyone! I'm at a loss again because I know almost nothing about these statues. Both have gummed labels inside that indicate an Italian origin but no clues to manufacturer. Each stands about 8 1/8" high. They appear to be handmade by applying layers of clay on top of one another. Any help as to manufacturer, style, or time frame would be much appreciated. Thank you!

The style brings to mind the artist Tony Moretto who opened, along with several partners, the studio, Lo Scricciolo (The Wren) in 1958 in Milan and eventually opened a store on Fifth Avenue in New York City. I believe the company became inactive in the early 1990's. Below is a link to a website.

Possible, I looked up some others by him and noticed he almost always had them on an integral "island" flat base that was left uncolored, and had his ink signature "T. Moretto." I am ceramically-challenged however.

Thank you for taking the time to view this post. Always great to hear from you, Walter! I think, though, that springfld.arsenal is probably correct that it's not actually Moretto. The quality just doesn't seem to be there. But it certainly gives me an avenue to pursue. Thank you both.
