Chinese Iron Incense Burner

Looks kind of rusty but don't know if got some significant age. If very old I would expect to be one piece cast. I see some welding work here.
Any thoughts?

That looks very rough , like it was outside......or buried...!!

 

Just going to venture a guess, but doubt it matters one way or another for this incense burner in such ill condition. It might be an iron Japanese koro (incense burner) with a komainu or Shishi finial and masks on ends.

The Chinese guardian lion/Shishi/lion dog/foo dog's (in Japan called a komainu) paw on a ball "represents supremacy over the world" in "Imperial context."
